Firstly I liked the convenient location (Head Office) located on the north side of Fairview Mall, parking was also as never a problem. Took myself some time to really 'Hit rock-bottom' before realizing that I had no choice, But to declare bankruptcy. Skylar & Associates was the first Trustee office that I contacted speaking to Associate Jackie Stains for a free phone consultation. Not knowing much about the process (bankruptcy) I also talked to other Trustee companies before ultimately trusting my 'Gut' by choosing David Skylar & Company's, Jackie. Highly recommended for her friendly, non judgmental approach & explanations regarding the Process. Questions were welcomed. The greatest mistake I made in my life was to marry Caroline Gordon, a Ghanaian/American after my beloved wife, Georgina Donyina, passed away in 2015. I thought that all wives were excellent partners like Georgina. I added Carol's name to my bank accounts. Unfortunately Carol was a gold digger. She emptied my accounts. She stole over $70,000.00! In 2019, I had a bad experience with another insolvency trustee. It almost turned me away from getting professional help. My experience with Jackie was truly amazing. I went with the consumer proposal, which secured my home. Jackie helped me and guided me through the whole process. I was very stressed and upset when she and I first spoke about my options. She was very good at listening and not judging my current financial state. My experience so far with David Sklar is great. I arranged a meeting about a year ago and so far, it's going well. I spoke with Ashley at their Brampton location. She was very thorough with the process and helped me answers any doubts/questions I had. My mind is now at ease and can't wait to be debt free. Past retirement and faced with accumulating debt and disaster, with considerable trepidation and after seeing the name of David Sklar & Associates , I telephoned to enquire as to what one should do when overwhelmed by debt. I can’t say enough good things about Ashley Carter. A few months ago I walked into her office scared not knowing what to do and a complete stress ball. I was so scared to answer my phone if I didn’t know the caller. She sat me down gave my kids coloring books and explained every route I could take to become debt free. I am in big debt and i didn't know what to do. I didn't have a fulltime job. My income is not enough for the necessary things and bills are here and there. Collectors are calling me everyday. Scary! Cori was very genuine, kind and real. I was never shamed or made to feel bad for the predicament I was in. Cori was helpful in explaining my options and what each meant in the long run. Cori was the third person I had spoke to about this. The first interviewed me over the phone and proceeded to make me feel like a number and worse Like I was inconveniencing her. The second I went to visit in a dirty office with that had a desk littered with other people’s personal information, he even showed me someone else’s 407 bill in a “look at this one” way. And then worse he shamed me about my debt, leaning back in his chair his arms clamped behind his head looking down his nose at me. So I had almost given up, was feeling deflated and then I took one final chance to meet Cori. Right off the bat she stayed late to accommodate my work schedule and immediately put me at ease and made me feel like she was there to help and be apart of my team. It’s been a year. And even though life’s little unpredictables happen to us, it’s very easy to start rebuilding credit after discharge. My wife and I like so many others, were experiencing financial challenges and found it increasingly difficult to balance payments to creditors and other basic needs for our family. David Sklar’s Mississauga office is a saviour for me. Rhoda Lewis helped me get my proposal set up and was able to answer any and every question I had. I am grateful that I got some real good counsel and was finally able to overcome my fear of " looking bad" and go ahead and file a proposal with David Sklar and Associates. I made some poor decisions and ended up in a very nasty cycle of debt. I was so worried about my future, I thought there was no hope. There is no gimmick, they aren't trying to sell you something you don't need. You don't feel embarrassed, and you are treated with dignity and respect. Rhoda Lewis saved my butt. She worked tirelessly and never gave up on positivity and encouragement to continue improving myself. All of David Sklar's efforts have given me a second chance to live a normal feeling life again. I came into the office hurt and in pain and had no way to pay all of my dedit. I felt terrable and hopless, as I was on LTD.I came into the office feeling bad, I met with Rhonda and she right away made me feel at ease.. She went sept by sept with me and I was able to get the help I needed.I completed my loan and was able to pay it off a little early. 4 years ago I was in debt and very worried out to get out of it. There I was standing at the bus stop and saw the sign David Sklar & Associates and decided to drop in. There i met this wonderful woman with a smile her name is Rhoda. She explained the options I had of getting out of debt. I listened to her and saw how passionate and knowledgeable she was and chose the option she explained that could work for me. Here I am now almost debt free. I recommend David Sklar & Associates to anybody who is in drowning in debt. The customer service and mannerism are on a professional and caring level. I can honestly vouch, he/she will not be disappointing. The client (like myself) is educated on these matters and any questions asked, will not be overlooked. I first me Rhoda Lewis early this year and felt immediately comfortable with her. She takes the time to sit and listen to your financial issues and makes informative and extremely helpful suggestions on how to best assist you. I do not feel like a number when speaking or meeting with her but it is as if I am with a friend who is there to help me through the problem. Rhoda takes the time to explain each step of the process in detail and listens to your concerns.I have worked in the insolvency field in the past and honestly wish that I had worked with counsellors such as herself as I feel she is a person who cares for her job and the individuals she is helping.

Rhoda was amazing to work with. She was polite, understanding and dealt with issues in a very quick and timely fashion. The entire process for my Consumer Proposal was quick and Rhoda handled my needs diligently and explained everything to me along the way. I was struggling financially for years, and Rhoda helped consolidate my debt into a lesser and more manageable amount by working with my creditors. In 3 years I will be completely debt free! I highly recommend this service and Rhoda was amazing to work with.
